February was fairly
mild this year. Temperatures were below normal at MSP airport on only 7 of the
29 days. Our average temperature for the month was 4 degrees above normal in
the Twin Cities. The highest reading at MSP airport was 58 degrees on February
27th, and the chilliest low temp was 6 below zero on the 13th. 12.1 inches of snow were measured at MSP
airport, which is about 4.4 inches above normal.
Looking ahead, the March
temperature outlook from the Climate Prediction Center of the National Weather Service shows
a tendency for above normal temperatures over Minnesota and Wisconsin:
Some cool days are likely, but there is a tendency for the
average temperature of the entire month to be milder than normal.
In case you’re
wondering, our Twin Cities average high temperature rises from 34 degrees on March
1st and 49 degrees on the 31st.
