It sure didn’t snow much in January 2015! Only 5.4 inches
fell at MSP airport, well below our 30 year average of 12.2 inches. It was a
lot snowier in January 2014, when we saw a whopping 22.7 inches of snow in the
Twin Cities.
Ten of the first
thirteen days in January were cooler than normal in the Twin Cities metro area.
Temps rebounded nicely after that, with above normal temperatures during the
final eighteen days of the month. Our warmest temperature in the Twin Cities was
45 degrees, on January 26. The coldest reading in January was 11 degrees below
zero on the 5th. The average temperature for the month of January was 3.4 degrees above normal in the Twin Cities.
If you like milder temps, take heart. Our average high temperature
in the Twin Cities rises from 25 degrees on February 1st to 34 degrees on February
28th.
